PBIS
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture and needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success.
As a Response to Intervention model, PBIS applies a three-tiered system of support, and a problem-solving process to enhance the capacity of schools to effectively educate all students.
The purpose School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Program at Davenport Elementary School is to establish and maintain a safe and effective school environment that maximizes academic achievement and behavioral competence of all students.
Respectful, Responsible, and Safe behavior is encouraged weekly at morning assembly time with PBIS boot camp teachings (August/January), character education (every Tuesday), and recognition of our students who earn "Be the One" awards (every Friday). Character Strong ( https://characterstrong.com/curricula/elementary) lessons and activities aimed at developing "Purposeful People" are shared in grades 2-4.

Rewards
Students can earn Caring Coupons when observed following the above expectations.
Classrooms get to visit the Caring Coupon store approximately once a month.
Caring coupons can also be saved for end of semester drawings.
Every quarter, there is a Celebration activity for all Davenport students who have been respectful, responsible, and safe. Students with 2 discipline referrals in that quarter will not be able to participate.
