Time to get muddy! The EHS Cross Country team traveled to El Paso Sept. 29 to run on the oh-so-famous course. Filled with creek crossings, hills, twists, and turns, the course was no walk in the park. The chilly, overcast afternoon started with the varsity girl’s race which was a sight to see. Mercer Mack lead the Eureka girls placing 4th overall, then not to far behind was Emma Argo in 11th and McKenzie Walz in 12th place. The boys varsity and open races soon followed the intense first race and didn’t fail to wow the spectators. Kyle Johnson lead the Eureka boys with a solid 15th place finish, proving how much guts he had. Connor Standish lead the Eureka boys in the open race placing in 2nd. Sophomore Brandon Adams stated “ I was crossing the creek and my foot got stuck in mud and my head dipped in the water”. Brandon was not the only one to get dirty, most members of the team were covered in the mud after crossing the finish line.
Both teams overall had a great performance with girls placing 2nd behind a tough AA school and boys taking a solid 3rd place. Come out the Lower Lake for the next EHS cross country home meet October 17th to support the team and show your school spirit!
