A tough battle was about to take place as the Hornets traveled to Bloomington to take on the Saints of Bloomington Central Catholic last Friday, Sept. 11 for their second Cornbelt Conference game. Right from the opening kickoff, the Hornets got great field position to start their drive. After gaining a couple of yards, the Saints forced the Hornets to punt the ball, which the Saints answered with a touchdown. The Saints were then up 17-0 going into halftime, but the Hornets did not give up.
Senior Josh Harper recalls on the offense in the second half by saying, “We were able to drive the ball through the middle of their defense coming out of halftime.” The Hornets held on for the rest of the game but unfortunately did not bring home a victory.
After the loss, Coach Bachman said to his players, “We are going to leave this game behind us and focus on the task at hand.”
While the Hornets failed to pull out the win, they were not disheartened. They go into the next week 1-2 preparing to face the state ranked U- High (2-1) at ISU’s Hancock Stadium. Come out and support the Hornets at 7:00 pm, Friday, Sept. 18.
