What’s better than a roaring student section dressed in Hawaiian attire cheering on the volleyball girls as they take on Tremont High School? Not much. This was displayed as our varsity volleyball team took on the Tremont Turks for an exciting home match on Sept. 3, 2015. The student section gave the gym a whole new atmosphere to go along with it.

Junior Sarah Morin served the ball, and the game was off. The girls’ practicing had really paid off as the lead went back and forth between the two teams. By the end of the first set, Tremont had taken the lead, but that wasn’t going to stop Eureka from giving it all they had.

The score was 21-21 in the second set as each team began to pull ahead with a few point lead before the other team snatched it up again. In the end, Tremont came out victorious, but that’s not what the girls focused on.

In our huddle after the game, Coach Heffren made each girl go around and say how we thought the game went and one thing that we thought our team needed to improve on,” said senior Kelsie Plattner. That’s just what they did as they tackled their weaknesses that very next day in practice. “Our team goal this year is to always encourage one another on and off the court, build each other up, and give it all we got every game and practice,” added Kelsie. So come on out Sept. 15 to cheer on the girls at the next home game against IVC!
