Variety is the spice of life, as they say, and that is why the annual Homecoming Variety Show is being replaced by the inaugural Community Pep Rally on Monday, Sept. 19 at the EHS football field.

Beginning at 7:00 PM, parents, students and staff will be pitted against their equals in an epic battle of relay races, games and harmless enjoyment.

The new chemistry teacher, Mr. Tom Hantak, has jumped right into the action and volunteered to help run the event and act as MC for the evening.

Starting this year, all attendees will get a chance to participate in the games. Student Council co-sponsor, Mrs. Michelle Monk, explained how the audience would get involved, saying, “Each crowd member will be given a ticket, and during the night, we will call people down to the field to participate in the games alongside the others.”

In addition to games, a raffle will take place to win a chance to throw a pie in the faces of selected friends, teachers, coaches and administrators. All proceeds will go to Fight for Life, the annual fundraiser for St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.

With that incentive, come to Eureka High School Monday night to support Homecoming week and Fight for Life.

In case of inclement weather, the event will take place in the high school gym.
